Can you stay overnight at Fort Lauderdale airport?

My husband and I are flying back to the USA from Germany. Our flight arrives at 8pm to FLL airport. Our next flight to Chicago is at 6am in the morning. We dont want to waste money on a hotel. Will the airline allow us to check in our bags that early? Will the airport allow us to wait inside for out next flight?
