Traumatised by actions of Librarian today, HELP?!?

Today at school was a very "different" day for me. It was about an hour before the final bell rung for us (the students) to go home. I decided to take a trip to the library to have some doents of mine photocopied. Since the librarian is the one incharge of the photocopy machine, I went to her. I politely greeted her a good-afternoon along with a warm smile. I'm quite the gentleman. I then asked, "Ma'am, can you photocopy these doents for me?" I had three seperate sheets. She replied, "A copy is for $1.00." I then asked, "By "copy", do you mean one sheet or all three." That did it. She went apesh!t on me. Screaming, swearing, making a general fool of herself. Shocked by her irrational, and uncivilised behaviour, I told her to calm down and photo copy my doents. She gave me a look of disgust then said, "What the hell are you going on about? Why you getting on?" If this was on the tele, I'd think of it as a joke, but it wasn't. Disgusted by her actions I said, "Ma'am, can you please lower your voice and conduct yourself in an orderly manner." After saying that, my mate and I walked out of the library. The librarian, feeling unsatisfied, screamed, "I'm not photocopying ANYTHING!". I told her that I didn't care and walked off. She came out of the library and argued with herself and sweared at me. I gave her no hid and walked off. when I had walked for about 100 meters, this teacher (who I later found out was her brother) called me and asked me to explain why I was being "disrespectful" to the librarian. I said that I wasn't being disrespectful. The librarian then added, "Ofcourse you were." She started jumping about flashing her hand in front of my face and ranting. I started feeling my temper rising so, I said, "Ma'am, can please allow me to have a civilised conversation with this teacher? You have shown me how uncivilised you are so I'd like to have a conversation with a civilised human being." She jumped up and started quarreling even more, raising her voice to it's limit. She then said, "You are the uncivilised one. You cannot see how uncivilised you behaving. You faking. You think you can fool me." "Ma'am, you are very uncivilised and immature," I replied. When she came near me and flashed her hand infront of my face, I said, "Ma'am what kind of woman in her forties quarrels with a 16 year old?" "I 51 years old boy, and I sure you will not live to see my age. You doh have to get on like a stupid stupid idiot like that," was her reply. Having had enough of that rubbish, I walked off. I then went to the principal, and to my surprise she said, "Perhaps the librarian was having a bad day. It happens." Disgusted I walked out. This librarian is just disgusting. She has no respect for anyone! Usually, at school, the only uncivilised people I have to deal with are students, but htis librarian shocked me. Do you think I did anything wrong? What would you do in this situation? What do you normally do when confronted by an uncivilised person who's prone to violence? Any tips on how to deal with uncivilised people?
